July Workshops
"Making Macaroni"
Children become Italian chefs during this fun-filled session! They will learn the shapes and names of various pastas in Italian and then use their skills to make fresh pasta. The class culminates when they mangia, mangia, mangia their own delicious dishes! Children bring home an Italian vocabulary list from the lesson and a sample of their culinary creations. $40
"Basta Pasta!"- for adults
Learn Italian through Cooking series. In our first meeting we start with a simple spaghetti all'arrabbiata and expand with variations on that. As we cook we learn Italian vocabulary used in cooking and also enjoy some wine! Each participant will recieve the recipe in Italian and English.
Fee: $50
Many of our workshops have been selling out. To insure that you have a place in a workshop, please register in advance.

Our Programs
“Prescolari” 3-5yrs - 9-11:30AM
Children are fully
engaged in a range of activities all conducted in Italian. They will
experience social, cognitive, artistic, musical and physical development.
Activities include games, songs, arts & crafts, dance, & outdoor play
which incorporates sprinkler fun. Children will learn Italian vocabulary,
phrases and expressions in natural ways based on an approach to learning
through play.
“Giovanotti” 6-13yrs - 12:30-3pm NEW! Theater In Italian: Campers will enjoy creating a theatrical production in Italian. Children will act in an original play in Italian. They will help build the set and create the costumes. The experience culminates with a live performance at the end of camp for family and friends.
Counselors In Training
14-16yrs, 9-3pm
This program is designed to introduce a counseling summer
experience. Members attend an orientation prior to camp to learn skills
and phrases that will enable them to assist the instructors with classes
and the production of the play. They will be supervised by the Camp
Director and are required to attend meetings when necessary. Members must
have studied at least one year of middle school or high school Italian. CIT
placement is limited. We register on a first come first serve basis, and select
CIT’s upon their abilities. Lunch and transportation are not provided by
La Piazza di Carolina.
Our Staff
Carolina Gengo Di Domenico - Director and Founder of La Piazza di Carolina, writes the curriculum, directs the preschool classes, and supervises the staff. She will also be assisting the “Theater in Italian” program.
Simona Rodano, aka “Fata Italiana” - Director of our “Theater in Italian” program. She will be guiding the campers through all phases of the production. Ms. Rodano, a native of Italy, is a professional performer-singer-songwriter, and has a background in musical theater.
Other staff is made up of qualified bilingual instructors. They use a variety of techniques and activities to satisfy the intellectual curiosity of campers and stimulate their development. They supervise campers with the help of our Counselors in Training.
Summer 2007 Rates:
“Prescolari” 3-5yrs, 9-11:30AM, $300 per week, $240 for July 4th week - no camp July 4th.
“Giovanotti” 6-13 yrs, 12:30-3PM, $1,045 for 4 week theatre program. Campers must register for the full session in order to participate in this program. No Camp on July 4th.
Counselors in Training: 14-16yrs, 9-3PM, $250 per week. The longer the camper attends the camp, the better he or she will improve his or her language skills. However, we offer flexible enrollment: per ½ day $45/camper, per full day $75/camper.
